Providing Edmonton and Alberta with excellence in print.
We can help you get started, and see your job through to the finish! For the novice and even the experienced print buyer, there can be many variables along the way, and it’s likely that in 40 years of printing we’ve already run into those. Our expert sales team will provide professional advice and ongoing support for your marketing and print projects. We will work with you from inception through to the final product, recommending marketing strategies, helping you choose the right paper as well as printing method, along with finishing and delivery options to make your print piece a success.
We’ve come a long way since the days of Gutenberg’s movable type, which started the revolution of print in the 1500s. Five centuries later technology allows you to print directly to your desktop printer, and you could say that you were doing digital printing. And then comes the time when that pesky cartridge is empty and you figure out just what those pretty pages are costing you!
So let the experts take care of your digital printing. nexGen Grafix uses several different devices to print a whole range of products suitable for the digital process. Sheet sizes go up to 14”x20”, on regular bond paper to 18pt board and anywhere in between. Products are limited mostly by imagination – from simple stationery to complex books, envelopes to posters, reports to postcards, all in superb high-definition colour. Our Kodak NexPress (one of three in Alberta) also allows supplemental colour options such as gold ink and raised clear ink, to really set your image apart from the crowd!
Small Format Digital, up to 12”x18”
Xante Ilumina and Impressia digital presses for laser-safe full colour letterhead, envelopes, business forms, nametags, and more.
Medium Format Digital, up to 14”x20”
Kodak NexPress digital production press for superb quality shorter-run booklets, reports, postcards, posters and more.
Although in general print runs have decreased in quantity with the onset of the digital era, print is far from dead! And our offset presses are geared to keep your image alive at high speed and with superb quality. The larger sheet size and greater capacity of these presses mean that longer runs are produced at competitive prices. Where digital print provides an excellent solution to economical smaller runs, offset print is still our mainstay in nearly all product lines up to 24.5”x29” in sheet size.
So think newsletters or magazines, coffee-table books, limited edition prints, posters, annual reports. From one to six colours in a single pass, meaning we can include your corporate colours along with full colour photography without significant extra cost. All controlled by sophisticated systems that take the guesswork out, put the quality in, and give you what you want, when you want it!
Large Format Offset, up to 24.5”x29”
Our Komori LSX 629c offset press is geared for high speed offset presses for longer-run mailers, brochures, presentation folders, catalogues and more.
Ink on paper used to be synonymous with what printers did. We still do that, but we’re no longer restricted to it. Now we also print on vinyl… for banners. And on coroplast, foamcore, or styrene, for signs. And on canvas, for photo print reproductions. And on golf balls, for that promo item you didn’t have before. And on aluminum, plywood, dibond, adhesive media, polyester, plexiglass, and virtually anything else that’s up to 64” wide, 1.5” thick and about a football field long. Our EFI H1625 LED wide format performance printer handles all that and more, all in gorgeous high resolution saturated colour that says “buy me” to whoever is looking at your advertising. The printer uses CMYK and two white printheads to facilitate printing on clear or translucent substrates.
Wide Format UV LED, up to 64”
EFI H1625 LED UV printer for posters, signs, banners, murals, displays, wallpaper, art reproductions and more.
Utilizing a Kodak Prinergy Evo PDF-based workflow which drives all of our equipment, nexGen’s prepress department is as up-to-date as it gets. MacOS and Windows workstations, along with operators well-versed in the latest software, provide compatibility with virtually all source files. We supply digital PDF proofing and/or physical proofs, so you can review what you’re getting before you get it. For offset jobs, our Kodak Magnus platesetter produces both conventional and stochastic screening for excellent image quality.
Technology notwithstanding, in the finishing department it is generations of craftsmanship that ensure the perfect completion of every print project. The equipment is advanced and automated, including two Kuda paper cutters, two Stahl folders and a Heidelberg saddlestitcher, as well as diecutting presses. This means we can do a simple trim and wrap, or more complex binding such as saddle stitching, plasticoil and wirobinding, and virtually any style of folding you can dream up. We also offer a variety of laminating options to protect or enhance the look of any job. Operators with keen eyes and a motivation to excel mean that quality finishing solutions are actually achieved, not just talked about!
